Birchbox: October Unboxing + September Review | Pretty Poppy Peony
I have been a Birchbox subscriber for several months now, and so far I've really enjoyed it. I love the opportunity to try products without committing to the price tag of a full size item. One danger of subscribing to subscription boxes can be that I end up backlogged with a lot of product samples without actually using them. To help prevent this from happening, I like challenging myself to try all of the products from the previous month by the time I get my next box. That way I can unbox the new box every month and also share mini reviews of all the products from the previous month with all of you at the same time. This way we can all learn together!

October Birchbox unboxing

This month is coming to you a bit late since my box got delayed by Hurricane Matthew, but I'm still really excited to share it with you!

Wilma Schumann Skincare Hydrating Collagen Eye Pads ($18 for pack of 5) - I've heard great things about eye masks but I've never tried any like this before (I've always just used eye creams or serums.) These are supposed to repair and brighten the under eye area.

Tata Harper Resurfacing Mask ($58) - This is supposed to be an organic mask that targets excess oil, helps even skin tone, and removes dead skin cells to give your complexion a healthy glow. This was my sample choice for the month and I'm excited to try it.

LOC One + Done Shadow Stick in Impress Me ($25 for trio) - I love the bronze-brown shade of this shadow stick. It swatched true to the color of the pencil, was highly pigmented and went onto my hand super smoothly. I'm interested to see how it wears on my eyes!
Birchbox: October Unboxing + September Review | Pretty Poppy Peony
Number 4 Super Comb, Prep + Protect ($32) - This is supposed to be an ultra hydrating, leave-in conditioner mask. It is also supposed to be a color protector and help protect hair from UV rays. As much as I'm not always thrilled to get hair related products, this one sounds like it might actually be relevant to my life.

Hustle Butter Luxe ($25) - This face and body balm is supposed to be super-nourishing and contains hyaluronic acid and algae. It was originally developed to heal tattoos it's supposed to work equally well to moisturize, remove makeup, and even heal sunburns. Sounds like a lot of claims!

September Birchbox Review

As promised, here is a recap of my thoughts regarding the products included in my September box!

Privai Nourishing Face & Body Oil ($38) - I haven't kept it a secret how much I really love this oil! This was hands down my favorite product in the box and I will definitely be purchasing the full size. As with most facial oils, I cannot use this nightly or it will start to break out my skin, so I rotate it with a lotion. I like applying it right before bed - it helps that I find the scent super relaxing - and when I wake up I find that my skin looks healthy and bright but isn't any more oily than normal.

Milk Makeup Highlighter ($24) - First, I love that this product is gluten free! The glow it provides is luminous and subtle - perfect for the every day. I  can imagine that it would build up to a much more intense glow, as well. It's just lovely!

Benefit They're Real! Tinted Lash Primer ($24) - On its own, this primer produces a subtle definition to your lashes that looks super natural. When it's applied under a mascara, it definitely helps make your lashes appear a bit more glam. (Which I think any girl would appreciate.) I didn't notice it affecting the wear time of my mascaras at all.

Davines Naturaltech Replumping Hair Filler Superactive ($40) - I didn't try this product. I ended up dying my hair shortly after receiving this box and had trouble finding out if this product was safe for color treated hair.

Davines Naturaltech Replumping Shampoo + Conditioner ($26.50 each) - I also didn't try these because of dying my hair. I'll probably try them when my hair color fades and right before I dye it again.

Dr. Brandt Pores No More Cleanser ($36) - A little of this product goes a LONG way. It has a very subtle, pleasant scent (almost eucalyptus-like, but I couldn't quite put my finger on it) that you notice while it's on your face but that goes away after you wash it off. I didn't notice a huge difference in my pores, but I did like that it left my skin feeling soft and clean but not tight and stripped like some cleansers can.

What product from my October box would you have been most excited to receive? Do you have any particular things you'd like me to test for you?

xoxo,
Stacia
