If you've spent any time with my family, you'll probably have gathered that they're coffee people. Coffee is a necessary part of the day for all of them. (I somehow didn't catch this coffee fever. I tend to prefer tea or hot chocolate. It's almost as if I received the cumulative loathing for coffee that the rest of them were spared.) Whenever our family has traveled anywhere, we always end up trying a sampling of local coffee shops and trying to find the best coffee in town.

Happy Valentine's Day, my beautiful friends!
Over the years I've known people that love Valentine's Day and I've known people that loathe it. I've had friends that always celebrate, whether they're in a relationship or not, and I've had friends that want to lock themselves away and avoid the world for the entire day because seeing so much PDA is overwhelming...emotional...discouraging...or painful.

Letter writing has almost always been a special part of my life. Back at my parents' house in California I have 2 (small-ish) bins full of letters from my growing up years that I just can't part with. The love really got going around the time I was 10 when my best friend moved from California to Washington. To help stay connected over the distance (and avoid racking up our parents' phone bills), we would write each other letters. We called them "round robins" thanks to some book from my childhood that I can no longer recall the name of, but the name meant that these letters were stuffed to. the. max.
Extra postage was always required.

One of the blessings and curses of living in Charleston is how many things there are available to do at any given time. Especially if you're interested in food, art, coffee, historic homes or beer. For Michael and me, the galleries have always held a special place in our hearts - we spent a full day of our Charleston honeymoon (our first visit to this city) wandering the galleries. We love going Downtown and looking at art together.
I am really good at pushing myself too far.
I love saying yes to every exciting experience and throwing my full self into everything that comes my way. This can be a strength, but lately my body has been telling me that it doesn't appreciate my enthusiasm. After completely loosing my voice and coughing up my lungs all throughout Thanksgiving, I think I need to pull back for the Christmas season. I need to take a few minutes to first enjoy this time with my loved ones but to also evaluate what has been working and what has not been working so that I can avoid burning my body out like this. So I'll be back soon, but it might not be until January. Whether I pop in this month or not, I hope that you have a very wonderful holiday season!
Hello, I'm Stacia!
I believe that adventure exists even in your back yard, that beauty can emerge from every day moments, that creativity can take many forms, that makeup washes off at the end of the day (so why not have a little fun!) Let's be friends!
