The Lorac Unzipped Gold eye shadow palette is one of my very favorites. No, it's not a new product, but it is still available and sometimes the oldies really are the goodies. Plus, whenever I start following anyone who does makeup reviews, I always look for their reviews of some products I'm familiar with. Why? Because if their thoughts on a certain product I love align with my own, then I'm more likely to agree with their opinions in general. This helps when it comes to their reviews of products I've never tried. Thus, I plan to share a few reviews on some of my very favorite products that are still available so that you can have a better gauge by which to judge if you agree with my makeup opinions. SwatchesFor these swatches, my arm was clean and dry. I didn't apply any primer or anything else on my arm. I swatched each color twice - once (on the left) with my finger, and second (on the right) with an eye shadow brush so that you can compare. Top Row from Left to Right Undressed - Can you even see this swatch on my arm? haha. It's there, but it's also incredibly close to my skin tone. This is a matte shade and is my favorite for covering my entire lid to help provide a uniform base and a surface for the other shadows to blend with. Uninhibited - I love using this color across my lid with a little bit of Undeniable in the crease for an easy, everyday makeup look. With all of these shimmer shades, I find that they apply best with my fingers. They don't pick up as well with a brush or, if they do pick up, I find that using a brush provides a lot of fallout, so I find it easier to just use my fingers. Unpredictable - I use this color all the time, too. Like I've mentioned about the shimmers, it applies best with fingers instead of a brush. Undeniable - I use this one in my crease all the time. I feel like my brush swatch of it is really poor, but I find that it builds well and isn't patchy on the lid. I find that I can get light to deep pigment from it depending on my needs for the day. Unedited - To be honest, I use this one the least out of all the colors in the palette. I tend to reach for Unafraid when I want to use one of the darker colors in this palette. Its swatch makes me feel like it skips a bit, and it might, but I honestly don't use it enough to really be able to say. If it does, it would be the one dud out of this palette. Bottom Row from Left to Right Unlocked - I love patting this shade into the inner corner of my eye with my finger for the perfect highlight. I find that it works well with all the colors in this palette - whether I'm taking my look in a more pink direction or in the copper direction. Just like the other shimmers, it applies best with my finger. Unlimited - This one is so pretty! I don't have anything new to say about this one. It behaves just like the other shimmers. Unleashed - Look at that finger swatch! This color is just to die for gorgeous. If you love copper shades, this one will not let you down. Unwind - I love to use this one in my crease when I'm leaning more towards the copper tones in this palette. It swatches much prettier than Undeniable and is also very buildable in the crease. Unafraid - This is my favorite of the darker colors in the palette. On Lorac's website they refer to it as a shimmer, and it definitely has glitter in it, but isn't also much more similar to the mattes in terms of application. I don't need to use my finger to apply this one. Perhaps it's because it's so dark, but I don't consider it to be one of the shimmer shadows. ReviewThis palette is my go-to when I want an easy look that I know will last through an 8+ hour day and still look amazing. I always get compliments on my makeup when I wear this palette, and I have to attribute that to the buttery shadows that make blending feel effortless. I love that this palette is versatile. I can create something bright and easy for every day or I can really glam it up for special events. When I travel, this is definitely one that I like to bring with me. I have had this palette for a year now and use it all the time, so I'm surprised a bigger dent hasn't been made in the eye shadow pans, but I have to attribute that to how pigmented the shades are. If you want to see some photos of me wearing the palette, you can find them in this blog post and this blog post. What are your thoughts? Have you tried the Lorac Unzipped Gold palette? Does it bother you when you need to apply shimmer shadows with your fingers or not?
