Misty Mountain Mornings

Misty Mountain Mornings in Dahlonega, Georgia | Pretty Poppy Peony
Whenever I think of morning mist and the mountains, the first thing that comes to mind is The Hobbit.  Mist always seems to bring a quiet hush with it. The air is damp and a little cool, and the world seems to be quietly slumbering in its misty shroud. For me, it's just romantic and the world feels full of possibility - there is the chance to run off on a grand adventure (like chasing after Dwarven gold) or the time could be spent in quiet contemplation.
In this last photo set from our trip to Georgia, these are photos Michael and I captured during one misty morning. Our grandparents have the best front porch - it's covered so we were able to stay out of the occasional misting rain, and it's fully equipped with rocking chairs so we could sit back and just enjoy watching water drip off of leaves, the occasional quiet bird flit through the trees, and leaves float slowly towards the ground.

This is an atmosphere that makes me feel like daydreaming. It causes me to both want to sit down and plan my next adventure or grab my walking shoes and head out on one right then and there. Because why not? The mist is full of possiblity and you never know where the road might take you. (Dragons sleep during the misty hours, right? ;) )

So often I find myself running from one task to the next (because I'm great at saying yes to everything) instead of taking the time to pace myself. This misty morning was a beautiful moment where Michael and I took time to live in the realm of possibility instead of what we "should be" doing. There is always the possibility for so many great things around us, but too often I'm not available to even pause and consider those possibilities or what possibilities I'm pursuing based on the tasks I accomplish each day. It's good to remember to not be so busy running from one thing to the next that you miss out on what you were running towards in the beginning. This is something I'm working on being more conscious about. What about you?

Here's to taking time to pause and then setting off on your adventures with purpose!

xoxo,
Stacia
