This past weekend Michael's mom came and stayed with us for a few days while Dad went on a work retreat. It was awesome to show her around Charleston a bit and just enjoy time together. We spent our time watching movies, attending a friend's going away party, a night walk on the beach, and a day spent at the beach. During the day, we even got to see some living sand dollars at the beach which blew my mind! (I'd never seen sand dollars outside of the store where they're sold next to other shells and treasures from the ocean.)

When Dad came back through town after his retreat to pick Mom up, we all took some time to get lunch together before they had to start back to Tennessee. Michael and I took them to one of our favorite lunch spots in Downtown Charleston, Bull Street Gourmet & Market. Not only does Bull Street have delicious sandwiches and salads, but they also make their own gluten free bread in house (which is a HUGE plus for me.) I haven't had a single thing there that I haven't liked yet, and everyone we've introduced to them seems to enjoy them, too. Sharing a meal with others is one of my favorite ways to connect with others, and it's always special to be able to introduce people to a well-loved restaurant or place.

After lunch we all wandered back towards the car. (We like to park down by the water, not only because it's free, but also because then we get to walk down some neighborhood streets and admire the pretty homes.) Michael gave Mom some photography tips since she's been enjoying taking photos more and more recently. Dad and I chatted about his work projects and mine. We wrapped up our wandering standing on the walkway overlooking the Cooper River, feeling small sprinkles kiss our faces as some rain rolled in.

It's so easy for weekends to get crammed full or rushed through, so the moments that we manage to immerse ourselves in and be fully present in are even more precious.

What moments have you soaked up recently?

xoxo,
Stacia

    Hello, I'm Stacia!

I believe that adventure exists even in your back yard, that beauty can emerge from every day moments, that creativity can take many forms, that makeup washes off at the end of the day (so why not have a little fun!) Let's be friends!
