If you follow me over on Instagram, you might be aware that Michael and I are in the midst of a very work-oriented season of life. The past summer and the beginning of the fall have been a season of working hard to set a foundation in place toward some of our larger goals. It's been good but there are also some days when it's really exhausting. (I'm not bringing this up to glorify "busy", honestly I'm looking forward to not being the constantly busy friend, but it is the season of life we're walking through at the moment.) Since I so often feel like we're flying from one thing to the next with very little time to pause, I have found myself becoming highly conscious of the moments when we do take time to pause. I call these instances the "moments we store up."
I'm sure you know what it's like to experience these moments. These are the moments of calm where we don't think about our to do list but are fully present in enjoying the moment with one another. They're the ones you wish you could hang on to for forever and just live within because they're the small instances where everything just feels right in the world. Sure, you have things on your to to list (that never ends, even in the slower seasons of life), but for a few minutes those items don't matter one bit and you are just able to enjoy where you're at.
These moments for me can include taking time to tend to my succulent garden, a shared moment of silliness, pausing to throw a toy so I can watch Max chase it around the living room in a frenzy, or a hug at the end of a long day. They are the moments that make me pause and feel so thankful. True, they seem inconsequential compared to some larger parts of our lives, but they are the moments that make me so thankful for the life I am living, and I think that is so valuable. They're my calm in the midst of the chaos right now.
How do you handle busy seasons of life? What is a moment that you've stored up recently?
